Sargam's Mission:

Increase awareness of Indian culture in North America, and to help the next generation of artists reach their potential by giving them support and nurturing their talents.

Background:

Sargam USA was founded in 1995 by gifted singer Mita Kundu to popularize Indian regional music and culture amongst Indian and American community. To achieve this mission, Mita initially coordinated many small cultural events and free demonstrations.

Over the years, as the influence of Sargam spread, so has the scope of the organization. Sargam now conducts regular musical lessons in Portland, Oregon to students of varied origin and age.
Recently, Sargam started Sargam INDIA in Kolkata, India. Sargam INDIA grants scholarship to needy and talented kids to help them learn music and persue their dream.
Mita also regularly participates in many fund raising events in India and North America to help talented needy youngsters.
